Chau, a 47-year old Cambodian-American actor, has come a long way from his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle days as the villainous The Shredder to the mysterious icon that is referred to as "the DHARMA Initiative guy." Prior to his inclusion on Lost, he appeared on Stargat SG-1, ER, Alias, 24, Numb3rs, and GI Joe. He landed the role of Dr. Marvin Candle by going through the typical casting process. However, there wasn’t anything ordinary about the impact that had followed. With the fame of Lost worldwide, also came Dr. Candle’s instant popularity. His inclusion on Lost certainly exposed him in a massive level, manifested in his numerous fan mails and his being approached by people because of his character. Apart from Lost, the exotic actor can also be seen in the movie The Eye, which is a remake of a Chinese horror film, and Rescue Down, which stars Christian Bale. Meanwhile, he wishes to prolong his inclusion on Lost, given the recognition his character brought to him, although the decision is still in the hands of the producers of the hit show. To discover more about his baffling character, intrigued fans will just have to stay glued every Wednesday at 10:00/9:00C on ABC. On the other hand, what would you call those people who get to do what their heart desires and get paid a significant amount of money for it? You might be tempted to say “actors,” but that only works if the actor belongs to a hit television series or has a cluster of blockbuster movies to his/ her name. But hey, at least Scrubs fans will be happy to know that Zach Braff, who plays funny and adorable Dr. J.D. Dorian on the popular comedy series, is one of those fortunate actors. He has not only been a cast member of a highly-followed production for (at least) six seasons, but has also been given a new contract that’s worth more than $300, 000. Oh yes, that thousands upon thousands of dollars per episode! Just to reiterate, that’s per episode, and not per season. Pretend that you're Braff for just one moment, and you will realize that in less than a year you could have enough money to buy the house AND car of your dreams. But money isn’t everything right? Sure, you would be able to purchase anything that has a price tag if you owned all the cash in the world, but, at the risk of sounding incredibly cheesy, money can’t buy abstract things like love, peace and harmony. It might be a good idea to say at this point that all this talk about money and how Braff is about to come into a lot of it doesn’t discount the fact that he truly deserves it. He is a fine and talented actor, who has not only shown prowess in both comedic and dramatic writing, but has also proven his talent in directing, writing and producing. He even won a Grammy Award in February 2005 for Garden State’s original soundtrack. The circumstances that transforms the beautiful woman into an incredibly strong machine-like (but still beautiful) heroine has also been written differently, with a millionaire named Jonas Bledsoe spending an enormous amount of money to “revitalize” Sommers. Which totally begs the question, “What kind of Bionic Woman can the fans expect to see?” In the original series, Sommers developed heightened senses and incredible strength. But with the birth of new technology (and don’t forget the huge expenses), will the Bionic Woman be modernized? Modernization is the key word here, ladies and gentlemen, and considering the fact that the man behind this venture is none other than Battlestar Galactica’s executive producer David Eick, expectations are quite high. Perhaps this latest version of the 1976 series can feature a Bionic Woman who not only has the ability to hear every minute and distant sound, but also has the capability to juggle her career and relationships with saving people from danger. Another interesting angle that this story could take is if the Bionic Woman were to go through an emotional conflict with regards to starting her own family. Many sub-plots, which can tackle modern-day issues that women from around the world deal with everyday, can be integrated into this conflict. One issue could be the inability to produce one’s own offspring (assuming that the Bionic Woman, with all the “repair” that she’s undergone, will be rendered infertile), while another issue could be about finding the right man who will understand, love and accept a woman for who she is. With all the possible plot lines, the latest version of Bionic Woman will not only serve as modern representation of a 1970’s heroine, but also a more relatable role model for the women of today.
